On Wednesday night July 9th, RHMC went international – at least for the evening! Brother Todd Rentz of Red Springs shared some of his experiences from the mission field with a group of about 60 children and adults. He emphasized the fact that missions starts at home – if you are not serving the Lord in your local community, you should not expect to serve Him abroad. Rentz illustrated this point through his own life. He shared with the group how his local church has developed several ministries that are reaching out to the Red Springs community as well as to all of Robeson County. He told the group of an 80 year old woman in Clio, S.C. who wanted to have an impact on world missions. She got a group of elder woman together and made prayer crosses to be given out on mission trips. As each cross is made, the women pray for those who will receive the cross. To date, over 40,000 crosses have been distributed worldwide! He went on to tell the group about his mission trips to Kenya, West Africa and Nicaragua, South America. The teams he serves on provide several services including medical assistance, construction services, VBS programs, etc. One ministry that he emphasized was his teams' involvement with the water purification project in Nicaragua, South America. This project provides individual purification systems to families who otherwise would have to drink bacteria plagued water. For the cost of a dinner and a movie, a family can be provided with clean drinking water for several years. He concluded his presentation by giving each member of Riverside a prayer cross – each one hand-made and prayed over by the Clio Ladies Group. The evening ended with an ice cream social allowing for a time of questions and fellowship with Brother Rentz.

Father's Day 2014 (Riverside)

riverside fathersday 2014 03

We celebrated Father's Day at Riverside Church by honoring our oldest father, which I'm proud to say was my Dad.  We also honored the father with the most children in church on Father's Day which happened to be me. There were a couple of dads that had the same amount of children in church, however, I received the honor since I was the oldest. We honored all our fathers and may God continue to lead us to be the men we need to be in His eyes. God Bless you all!

VBS 2014 (Riverside)

riverside vbs 2014 0108Riverside Church held there annual VBS on June 23-25 and had a very good turn out each night. The theme this year was Jungle Safari, where our young people learned the importance of serving God and serving others. Our lay leaders and teachers did a marvelous job in bring out the importance of being a servant of God.
God is creator, God is provider, God is protector, God is savior, God is king. Without God we wouldn't exist and God gives us everything we have and God is our shelter in the storms of life. God is the promise Messiah who saves all mankind if they would only come to Him to be The Lord of Lords and the King of Kings in their life. If they will call on His amazing grace He will set them free no matter what the age, no matter the circumstances, no matter the skin color, no matter the social status, He is here for us all and we thank Him for being our Savior.
