Proverbs 27:17 Becoming A Better You
Sermon Outline

Proverbs 27:17 (KJV) Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

FAILURE

FRICTION

FYSIQUE

We as Christians should be in the business of promoting one another thru meekful reproof and adjustments to make us more like Christ. The word iron means implement in this verse which is tools and deeper study shows a meaning of a face to face encounter with your friends that are true friends, proverbs shares with us what a true friend does, so letís break the text down.

BECOMING A BETTER YOU!!

1.       Failure

A tool is of no value when it is dull, the recall has been made to all people

RN. 3:23 FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND  COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

1Cor. 11:31 FOR IF WE JUDGE OURSELVES, WE SHOULD NOT BE JUDGED.

We all had a defect and deficiency. Dead in sins and trespasses Eph 2:1,2

This recall made to all people can only be fixed by JESUS CHRIST who died for our sins ready to advocate on our behalf.

Every person on earth needs this necessary sharpening session from GOD our savior to remove the initial failed state out of the way and make our future state better and more productive repent and start on the road to becoming a better you GOD IS READY ARE YOU!!!

2.       Friction

{Iron sharpeneth Iron} the only way to accomplish that is friction.

A. Dullness causes twice the labor. If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct. ECC. 10:10

B. Dullness stresses other parts of the tool an AX normally ends up with a broken handle. AMEN My personal experience with this has been thru chainsaw work 23 years of it I have learn to appreciate a file to cause friction and shave away the dullness makes life a whole lot easier. What is GODS FILES? The Word and the HOLY SPIRIT. Heb. 4:12 (word of God sharper than any two-edged sword) John 16:8 HOLY SPIRITS WORKS ARE (reprove the world of sin, righteousness, judgement) when these two work in unison when the word is preached the result will be a better you, a change you,a challenged you and a new character developes. PRAISE THE LORD!!! Two more things about friction, friction creates usefulness, friction brings perfection.  WE ARE DESIGNED AS CHRISTIANS TO BE SHARPENED MORE THAN ONCE

3.       Fysique

SHARPENETH THE COUTENANCE OF HIS FRIENDS

" When you have alot of rough edges, you're easy to get hold of but hard to embrace". Sid Guillen tells that his mother had an interesting way of describing the importance of keeping good company. She used to say, " You don't work in the garden with white gloves. The gloves will become dirty, the dirt will not become glovey.

Who is rubbing off on who?

This brings me to a question, who are your three closest friends, ponder that. 2Sam 17:27-29 David is fleeing from his son absalom, and at this point drained, hungry, weary and thirsty. A friend by the name of BARZILLIA whose name means IRON provided for David when he needed it  the most. Davids countenance was sharpened by a man who was his friend.

When Christ came into the presence of many like legion or the palsy man they changed for the better. Spiritual, Physically, and Mentally.

Christ along with our friends upon earth who are true friends will make us better. JN. 15:13-15 Christ called us his friends, laid down his life for us.

Proverbs tells about true friends and I will put it in one statement then script. ref. They love at all times, stick closer than a brother, faithful are the wounds of a friend, and hearty counsel is sweet from a man's friend. Proverbs 17:17, 18:24, 27:6, 27:9.

In my closing friends create bridges that bring us thru rough terrain and environments, bridges are not put in places that are easy to cross so letís travel with the attitude I want to become better, I've alerted you of failure, brought friction in hope of changing your fysique inside out. GOD BLESS YOU !!!!
